Discovering Your Inner Performer: A Drag Workshop 10 am - Noon Ages 13+ Pizza lunch provided
Unleash your creativity and explore the art of drag in this empowering workshop designed for all levels of experience. Whether you're a curious beginner or looking to deepen your craft, this session is your gateway to connecting with your authentic, inner persona and finding confidence through the transformative art of drag. This workshop is for all ages!
What You’ll Learn
1. Connect to Your Inner Persona
Dive deep into self-expression as we guide you through exercises to explore and embody your unique drag persona. Learn how to tap into your individuality, harness your creativity, and create a character that feels authentically you.
2. Build Confidence Through Drag
Discover how drag can be a powerful tool for self-confidence. Through group activities and personal reflection, you'll learn to embrace vulnerability, celebrate your uniqueness, and radiate your truest self—on and off the stage.
3. Makeup Basics
Learn the essential techniques of drag makeup in a hands-on session, from contouring and highlighting to bold eyes and statement lips. We’ll cover the tools and products you’ll need to start building a look that pops and brings your persona to life.
4. Getting Started in Drag
Explore practical tips for practicing the art of drag, from costume ideas and performance tips to finding your local drag community and opportunities to perform. Learn how to build confidence on stage and make your debut with flair.
This workshop is a celebration of self-expression, inclusivity, and artistry. Whether your goal is to perform, boost your confidence, or explore a new creative outlet, you’ll leave with the tools and inspiration to shine.
No prior experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity, an open heart, and a willingness to explore!

From its early roots in ancient theatrical traditions to its role in shaping modern 2SLGBTQIA+ culture, we'll uncover the stories of resilience, self-expression, and defiance that define this dynamic art form.
Dive into the colorful evolution of drag, learning about iconic figures, pivotal moments, and the global communities that have embraced and expanded its legacy. Whether you're a longtime enthusiast or new to the world of drag, this presentation will leave you inspired and informed about the power of drag to entertain, challenge norms, and create a sense of belonging.
Followed by Performances:
After the presentation, experience the magic live! Talented performers will take the stage, showcasing the creativity, humor, and artistry of drag in a series of dazzling acts. Prepare to be amazed, entertained, and uplifted by a celebration of individuality and collective pride.
JAVA JABBERS meet every Wednesday morning in the Shoppers Mall at 10:30 AM. We usually sit by A&W, look for a table of women "talking and drinking coffee". All are invited to join us!
